Drug death at only 37 years old! Sports star dies after overdose, mother finds body

Phoenix (USA) - Around a week ago, the sudden death of Brian Matusz caused consternation and grief in the baseball world. On January 6 of this year, the body of the US-American, who was just 37 years old, was discovered in his own home.

The circumstances were initially unclear. However, new findings from the investigation are now shedding light on the matter - and revealing shocking details.

According to several media outlets, the professional athlete probably died of a drug overdose. This is according to a police report obtained by the Baltimore Banner. However, it is unclear what substance was involved.

Officers also discovered a lighter and aluminum foil next to the body. It is also not known whether the previously unknown drug was consumed with the aforementioned paraphernalia.

According to the police, there were no obvious injuries, trauma or signs of third-party negligence.

According to consistent media reports, the mother found the lifeless body of her son with a white substance in his mouth in his home in Phoeniox, a metropolis with millions of inhabitants.

As no one had opened the door for her, she had entered the deceased's rooms through the bathroom window, where she discovered the body lying on a sofa in a room on the upper floor. No further details were given.

"Our hearts are heavy tonight as we mourn the passing of former Oriole Brian Matusz," the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball team, for whom he played 279 of his 280 games, confirmed the pitcher's death last Thursday.

"Brian was a fixture in our clubhouse from 2009 through 2016 and was beloved throughout Birdland, his passion for baseball and our community was unmatched. He dedicated his time to every fan he could reach, was a valued teammate and always had a smile on his face. Brian's family and loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

In 2008, Matusz was selected fourth overall in the 2008 MLB draft. Just one year later, he made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut, throwing five innings in a win against the Tigers on August 4, 2009. Most recently, he was under contract with the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League.
