Poisoned Easter eggs: act of revenge against ex ends fatally for two children
Maranhão (Brazil) - In a perfidious vendetta , a Brazilian woman (35) apparently poisoned chocolate Easter eggs to take revenge on her ex-husband's new girlfriend. But instead of the rival, the deadly gift was given to the children - with tragic consequences.

After the horrific death of her seven-year-old brother Luis, 13-year-old Evelyn also died on Monday as a result of a poisoned Easter egg, reported the Brazilian news platform G1.
Jordélia Pereira Barbosa had sent her ex-husband's girlfriend a plastic bowl of supposedly harmless chocolate eggs - along with a friendly Easter message.
What seemed like a nice gesture, however, turned out to be a cruel act of revenge: the sweets were poisoned - and apparently intended for her ex's new partner, Mirian Lira (32).
The 32-year-old tasted the eggs together with her children. They all had to go to hospital afterwards.
The children did not survive the poison attack

While Luis died of cardiac arrest on Thursday, Evelyn was still fighting for her life. On Monday, she also succumbed to multiple organ failure.
The children's mother, however, is in a stable condition and is expected to be released in the next few days.
On April 17, the police were able to arrest Jordélia Pereira Barbosa - she was caught getting off a bus and taken into custody.
Jordélia denies any guilt and claims that she did not poison the chocolate.
The investigation is in full swing. Apparently, the police have already gathered enough evidence against the 35-year-old.
