At only 43 years old: Actress dies of rare type of cancer

Paris - Belgian actress Émilie Dequenne , best known for her role in Rosetta, has died at the age of just 43!

As the Belgian news magazine"Knack" reports, the actress died on Sunday evening in a hospital in Paris . This was confirmed by her agent Danielle Gain to the AFP news agency.

In October 2023, the 43-year-old made her serious illness public: a rare adrenal cancer. She has now lost her battle against the insidious disease.

Émilie was already in front of the camera as a young woman and won the Palme d'Or for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 1999 with her first movie role in "Rosetta".

This was followed by roles in "The Brothers of the Wolf" and "The Housekeeper", which made her known to an international audience. She was last seen in the thriller "Survive" in 2024 - her last film project before retiring due to illness.

Émilie Dequenne is survived by her husband Michel Ferracci and a daughter.
