Mourning in the Swedish royal family: Princess Birgitta has died
Sweden - Princess Birgitta, one of the King of Sweden's elder sisters, has died peacefully on Mallorca at the age of 87.

As the Swedish news magazine TV4 Nyheterna reports, the royal family announced the death of Princess Birgitta in a statement today.
The 87-year-old, who had lived on Mallorca for many years, is said to have been in good spirits recently.
According to reports, she was still having lunch with friends on a golf course on the Spanish island. There were no signs of her sudden death.
Princess Birgitta had moved to Mallorca in the mid-1990s to live closer to nature and the mountains and to enjoy the special light on the island.

Her family is deeply shocked by her loss and will miss her colorful, sincere nature very much.
The Swedish King Carl Gustaf (78) in particular is mourning the loss of his sister and has expressed his sincere condolences to her children and grandchildren.
In accordance with her own wishes, the Princess will be buried at Hagaparken Cemetery in Sweden, in a ceremony attended by her immediate family.
Due to the death, the flags at Drottningholm Palace and Haga Palace will be flown at half-mast on Thursday, December 5.
The exact time of the funeral is not yet known.
