Under the band name "Youngbloods", Miller and his bandmates Jerry Corbitt (†71), Lowell Levinger (79) and Joe Bauer (†41) shaped the era of 60s hippie music. Their song "Get Together" brought them many successes and was a firm fixture in the top 10 charts at the time.

The song was mainly about themes such as peace and cohesion. The debut album, which the band released in 1967, even climbed to number five in the Billboard Top 100 charts two years later.
