Woman with rare disease doesn't have long to live! But her greatest wish still comes true

Cocoa (USA) - The good news is still out there: In the US state of California, a terminally ill woman had her greatest wish fulfilled last Sunday. Kristina Hamilton (42) was able to say "I do" to her fiancé Chris Swanson (43) in a dreamlike setting. This was made possible by donations worth more than 45,000 euros!

Hamilton suffers from systemic sclerosis. This is a rare inflammatory rheumatic disease - an autoimmune disorder that causes the body to produce thicker tissue than it should.

There is no cure for scelrosis, which has already left severe marks on the 42-year-old's body. She did not know whether she would ever live to see her wedding day, as People magazine reported.

But the non-profit organization Wish Upon a Wedding was able to help. Hamilton applied ... and was accepted a little later! It was a dream come true for the US-American.

On Sunday, she finally married her sweetheart in front of a fantastic backdrop on an "unforgettable" day in the Californian town of Cocoa. Dozens of service providers donated their time and materials worth more than 50,000 US dollars (45,000 euros), as Florida Today reported.

Terminally ill woman is overjoyed: "Beautiful and unforgettable wedding day"

"We would like to thank Wish Upon a Wedding from the bottom of our hearts for giving us a beautiful and unforgettable wedding day," the couple, who met on an online dating site in 2023, told People.

"Their kindness, generosity and love have given us a gift that we will cherish forever. They don't just plan weddings - they give people moments of pure joy, hope and love, and we will never forget that."

Now the couple are looking to the future. "We are raising my three wonderful children and enjoying the blessing of becoming a patchwork family with Chris' four incredible children. Together we are navigating life with love and gratitude," said Hamilton.

Her husband has always been her rock. His "love and support" inspire her every day, the newlywed said.

"We hope that we can not only manage my health, but also raise awareness [of the disease], share our story and one day help find a cure for other people living with this disease."
