Ireland - In April 2024, it was over - forever. Emily Anne Small and her sister Maria lost their mother Alison that month. Shortly afterwards, the student from Ireland began searching for memories as her own faded. Eventually, Small came across the deceased's Amazon account. What she discovered there made her heart melt.

Small and her sister Maria both have autism. That's why it was particularly important for them to have someone by their side who understood them.

Her mother managed to do just that, the Irish woman explained in an interview with Newsweek this week. "Our childhood was full of teddy bear birthday parties and Easter egg hunts with the Easter bunny," she told the US magazine.

"She was the kind of person who always asked how someone else was doing before they had a chance to ask how she was doing, no matter what she was going through," Small added.

Before the young woman came across her mother's Amazon account, she tried her luck with old emails.

But when she saw Alison's order history, an unexpected amount of memories and feelings came flooding back.

Books, CDs, Christmas and birthday presents from her childhood came to light. This enabled Small to remember many forgotten moments.

"When she died earlier this year, I found it hard to remember details of our childhood memories because she wasn't around to talk to me about them," Small told News magazine.

She and her sister would like to remember their mother and talk about her a lot. That's their way of dealing with grief, Small said. In a TikTok video , the young woman further processed her grief and the moment she searched the Amazon account.

She concluded by saying, "When I discover a new memory, I feel more connected to my mom and can focus on the fun we had."
