London (England) - This TikTok video speaks volumes: the Englishwoman Indigo is crying her eyes out. The shock she has just experienced is deep-seated. The young woman from London had only bought used boots in a second-hand store. What had happened?

In the curious video, which has been online since mid-March, Indigo has tears streaming down her cheeks. Then, sobbing, she tells us what she had to go through. "I am inconsolable and have difficulty breathing."

She put her foot in one of the boots and encountered resistance. Thinking it was just a harmless object like paper, she then found a dead mouse that was "completely flat".

"I can't keep my boots," Indigo explains, sobbing. She repeatedly holds her hands to her face and has one crying fit after another.

In the comments section, she adds: "Fiddling with a mouse's body with my toes and then accidentally dumping it on my bedroom floor was truly my worst moment yet. How is everyone else doing?"

But shouldn't Indigo have noticed the mouse when she tried it on in the store?

In a sub-comment, the Londoner explains that she first tried on the boots at home. She told Newsweek a little more about the incident this week. "I was absolutely horrified when I saw the mouse," Indigo explained.

"It took me about an hour to get myself together and work up the courage to get rid of it. I tried knocking on neighbors' doors for help, but it was Wednesday lunchtime, no one was home. So I had to take matters into my own hands."

However, the British woman does not want to be deterred from second-hand shopping in the future. After all, mice can crawl into shoes in the closet, she says.

But there is one thing Indigo wants to do differently from now on: Turn the shoes inside out and check that everything is in order before she puts them on.
