Wife wants a stylish Christmas: But what her husband does makes so many laugh
Austria - Christmas decorations still sometimes divide opinion, even among long-standing couples. The latest example is a viral TikTok video from Austria in which the opposites clash.

In the clip by Scout Shmygol (30), you can first see the festively decorated Christmas tree. Then the camera pans on to several candles.
Shmygol is Canadian. That's why the traditional North American Christmas socks are hanging above the fireplace. But while the 30-year-old's sock looks dignified, the camera pans a little further to her husband's sock.
It contains a funny reindeer cuddly toy from her childhood. "When your husband doesn't give a damn about aesthetics and insists that we hang up his childhood Christmas stocking every year," the TikToker caption etches.
Many of the 800,000 users who have viewed the curious clip so far find it funny. But there are also critical voices who think the comment is exaggerated.
However, things are very different than they seem anyway!
Viral TikTok video is meant quite differently

In an interview with Newsweek this week, Shmygol explained, "This video was taken a couple days ago at our house. It actually all started with my husband looking at our Christmas decorations and making the comment that he should probably get a new stocking."
She continues: "That gave me the idea to make a light-hearted TikTok video about how out of place the whole thing is." Her husband found the idea funny and fully supported it.
While many users reacted exactly as hoped, there were others who took the whole thing far too seriously.
"I made this video as a funny little satire", but the "cruelty of the reaction on the internet was shocking." She even received marriage advice in some condescending comments, the expat said.
Some TikTokers should therefore add a big scoop of kindness before the festival of love.
