When he learns of her death, he dies too: Italian couple dead almost simultaneously after 55 years

Bibbona (Italy) - After more than half a century of marriage, an Italian couple have died just a few hours apart.

81-year-old Lolita Ghezzi and 84-year-old Sergio Cresti from Tuscany were together for 55 years, as reported by the newspaper "Il Tirreno".
Then the woman was admitted to a nursing home in the town of Bibbona due to Alzheimer's disease, where she died on Wednesday last week. 36 hours later, her husband was also dead.
Her son Michele told the newspaper that Cresti had not coped well with his sick wife's forced move to the nursing home.
He had then also been confined to bed following a fall. When he received the news of her death, he only let out a sigh.

"That was all," Michele said. "He didn't need to add anything. That's when I said to my father: 'If you want to see my mother, then go'."
The couple were buried together.
