In a post on all its social media channels, the "Duolingo" company informs about the sudden death of its beloved mascot.

The post reads: "The investigation is ongoing and we are cooperating with the authorities. Honestly? He probably died waiting for you guys to do your lesson. But who knows?"

It is not yet known why the mascot died and whether there will be a successor. The company only indicates that more information will follow in the near future via its social media channels.

It also states that fans of the green owl should also respect the privacy of singer Dua Lipa (29). In recent times, the mascot has repeatedly revealed his enthusiasm and affection for the British singer on social media.

But this love seemed to be one-sided for a long time, until one fateful day when a video was released. In it, the singer and the mascot were seen hand in hand in public.

The language learning app also changed its profile picture on Instagram.

Fans blame themselves for the death of the mascot

In countless videos, the green owl adores the singer Dua Lipa (29). After some time, a meeting between the two finally took place.

In the comments under the post on the social media platform X , fans are deeply upset.

One user wrote: "The brother spent his last days reminding me to learn French and I ignored him ... I will never be able to recover from this."

Countless other users also posted screenshots of the app, showing that they had not used it for several days. They wrote: "It's my fault, I'm sorry Duo." It is not yet known what will happen with the Duolingo app.

Incidentally, the last sentence of the statement from the German Duolingo channel does not refer to the singer Dua Lipa, but to the Dutch singer Joost Klein (27).

During the period in which Joost Klein took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, he and "Duo" repeatedly appeared in joint videos on the social media platform TikTok .
