Out of the blue: Mysterious lump of ice crashes into the roof of a house
Palm Coast - A curious incident in the US state of Florida has people guessing : On Monday afternoon, a mysterious lump of ice crashed into the roof of a residential building!

Around 3:30 p.m., the lump smashed through a metal roof. "I couldn't believe it - I've never heard anything like it in my life!" neighbor Mike Bishop told FOX 35 Orlando.
Fortunately, the residents of the house escaped with a scare. No one was injured by the impact.
The weather that day - sunshine and about 24 degrees, as Fox Weather reports - raises further questions. So where did this accumulation of ice come from?
The most likely theory is that it came from an airplane. That's why the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has now become involved and is investigating what happened.
"Aircraft can lose water through leaks. This freezes on the outside of the aircraft and when it comes loose, it can fall to the ground as a huge lump of ice," explained aviation expert Shem Malmquist. According to him, this happens a few times a year.

Residents can stay in the house
The FAA must now check whether the lump of ice could have come from an airplane, and if so, from which one exactly.
The local building authority declared the house still habitable. The gaping hole in the roof was initially provisionally covered with a tarpaulin by the fire department.
