Mother sees daughter in daycare video: What happens next brings tears to her eyes

North Carolina (USA) - She works, so like so many people, she has to take her daughter to daycare. But Lauren Pontiff from North Carolina has the opportunity to see her Lilly Kate from her workplace thanks to several purposefully installed surveillance cameras. What she was able to see there at the end of January brought tears to her eyes.

The moment touched the mother so much that she filmed it on her cell phone and shared it on TikTok . Almost five million people have already seen it there since January 24.

In the cute video, the little girl takes her very first steps and is cheered on by her teacher Shikira.

Pontiff was lucky enough to see one of her daughter's first attempts at walking because Shikira had informed her via text message.

"I recorded it to send to my husband and our whole family," said the US-American in an interview with Newsweek this week.

However, she wasn't crying because her baby girl was taking her first steps, but for a different reason!

"The first time I saw it, I was so happy and shocked that she had run so far," Pontiff told the US magazine. But, "The second time I saw it, I couldn't stop seeing how proud and excited Shikira was for my little girl."

In the curious video, the young woman spreads her arms wide and smiles at little Lilly Kate, beaming with joy. The child then takes a few more steps before landing in the arms of her enthusiastic caregiver.

"I had tears in my eyes when I saw her reaction. It was worth not being there when I saw that Lilly had the biggest cheerleader cheering her on," the mom said.

Shikira works three jobs to make a living, but still goes through life with a smile every day, Pontiff said. "She loves very much - and these babies know it," the touched woman concluded.
