Connecticut (USA) - When you meet Colton (8) on the street, the first thing you notice is his special hair. His mother is constantly questioned about it - and unfortunately has to listen to a lot of stupid comments. Now she is clearing up the prejudices once and for all on TikTok .

Her youngest son Colton in particular has recently attracted the attention of her followers - or rather his appearance. The schoolboy has very special hair, which is the subject of all kinds of conversation. His mane alternates between dark and red strands of hair, which are very different from each other.

This unique hair pattern first appeared when he was a toddler. "Over the years, it became more and more dramatic as he got older," mother Deana recalls to Newsweek. Since then, the mother has become accustomed to strangers approaching her about her son's hair.

"He often gets compliments on his hair," says the US-American. However, the mother of three has also been accused several times of coloring her son's hair at a young age.

Deana therefore took this as an opportunity to go into more detail about Colton and his magical head of hair on TikTok.

In a video, she explains that the eight-year-old could possibly be a "chimera twin". Those affected are born with two sets of DNA because they absorbed the cells of the other twin in the womb as an embryo.

The word "calico hair" was also used, which is normally used for tricolored cats.

The "diverse genetics" could also play a role. Colton's father is half Samoan and half Irish, with dark head hair and a reddish beard. She herself has naturally brown hair with red and blonde streaks.

Although Deana is delighted with the attention her youngest offspring's unique hair has received, she points out that the eight-year-old has so much more to offer.

"He's known at school and around town - not because of his hair, but because he talks to everyone and has the best personality."
