Texas (USA) - Opinions are divided on this TikTok clip. It all started so well a week ago. Courtney Collins from Texas posted the short video of her daughter Blakely (eleven months) sitting in a pantry and munching on a large potato. At first there was a lot of laughter, the curious clip went viral and the comments were benevolent. Then things took a turn: Just one day later, the world looked very different.

Collins was horrified to discover that her viral hit, which had caused a lot of good humor the day before, was attacked by haters.

Since then, the comments section has been full of accusations that she is a bad mother and should take better care of her baby .

The reason: Blakely could have found something poisonous in the cupboard, not to mention the fact that the potato was still completely unwashed.

The video now has almost six million clicks and more than 600,000 likes.

Collins therefore gave an interview to Newsweek .

"I was washing up right next to the pantry and watched her crawl in," the Texan told the US magazine.

"She had put a potato in her mouth. [...] When I noticed it, I just thought, 'Hmm, that must feel good for her little teeth'," Collins added. She then recorded the video and sent it to her husband.

After the clip went down really well with her partner and other family members, the mother decided to upload it to TikTok as well. The situation there was similar at first.

"I went to bed and woke up to thousands of hate comments," says the US-American about the rapid change in mood that literally happened overnight.

Although she considers the users' accusations to be exaggerated, she promises to be more careful in future - and to keep the potatoes under lock and key.
