Man has terminal cancer: what he does before he dies touches so many

Poland - Because a normal funeral service was out of the question for him, a cancer patient from Poland invited his loved ones to a very special event. The family man wanted to say a fitting farewell to his family and friends before he left the world forever. His unconventional approach also touched internet users.

Daughter Bibi Brzozka posted a video on her Instagram profile of her father's "farewell party", which caused astonishment, especially in her conservative home country of Poland.

Her father is suffering from terminal cancer and knows that he doesn't have long left on earth. But instead of allowing his family and friends to come together after his death, the Pole organized a "pre-stypa".

In Poland, a stypa is a wake where people can pay their last respects to the deceased before the actual funeral.

According to November.de, the body is laid out in a coffin or deathbed in the home. Surrounded by candles and flowers, guests can then mourn in silence. Afterwards, people can get together over food and drink.

Although this may sound like an appropriate way to say goodbye to a loved one, it was out of the question for Bibi's father.

He wanted to be present with all his senses and prepare for his imminent death together with those closest to him. "His idea was to skip the celebrations after the funeral - where he would not be present - and instead say a proper farewell to his friends and family while he was still alive," his daughter explained on Instagram.

The Pole therefore invited 50 people, rented a special location and provided good food. He also put together a varied program of music, speeches and presentations that revolved around his life and his experiences with his guests.

"That was completely new for the people here - brave, unconventional and courageous. But that's exactly how my father is. And that's exactly what I inherited from him," Bibi proudly writes about her clip.

It wasn't just the people on site who were thrilled by this kind of farewell, Bibi's "Pre-Stypa" video also quickly made the rounds online .

"The best thing I've seen in a long time. He did it HIS WAY!" commented one user in praise. Another said: "There's something deeply beautiful about celebrating life while we're still here to feel the love, laughter and presence of those who matter most."

The video has received more than 681,000 clicks on Instagram so far.
