The 36-year-old Grace received the organ from her older sister, as reported by the BBC and other media.

Following the transplant two years ago, she has now given birth to a daughter - little Amy Isabel.

Mom Grace and her husband Angus (37) are beside themselves with joy, wrote PA. The baby was born by caesarean section in London at the end of February.

According to PA, it is the first such case in the UK . The mother spoke of a great gift.

Grace had no functioning uterus due to a rare condition, Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome.

Her older sister, who already has two children of her own, therefore donated her organ. An embryo was later implanted via artificial insemination.

World's first birth with a donated uterus in 2014

"We've waited so long," PA quoted Grace as saying. They had been planning to start a family ever since they got married. They had suppressed many feelings for years and then just cried. "The moment we saw her was incredible and we both burst into tears."

Children have also been born this way in Germany. The University Hospital in Tübingen presented the first cases in 2019.

The first woman in the world to give birth to a healthy baby with a donated uterus was in Sweden in 2014.
