Young mother presents baby to her pug: How the dog reacts breaks her heart
USA - Joy? Not a chance! Pug Gus from the USA reacted very differently to his owner Heather Frost's baby than she had expected. The corresponding clip has been going viral on TikTok since the beginning of the week. It shows the moment when the dog breaks his owner's heart.
In the video, Gus looks sadly into the camera of the new mother, who is back home after three days in hospital.
But that's not all: Gus hides in the far corner of an armchair, eventually even hiding his head behind it. "Gus wasn't happy," Frost concludes in the commentary next to the clip.
At least the audience is happy. The heartbreaking video has already received 1.6 million clicks and more than 265,000 likes.
The mother explained the bittersweet story in more detail to Newsweek. "I saw Gus when I walked in the door. He came up to me, sniffed me and looked at the baby in my arms."

"A few minutes later, I realized he wasn't in the room. We searched the whole house for him and found him behind a chair in the children's room," she said.
Gus had seemed distraught and refused to look her in the eye or come out from behind the chair, Frost told US magazine.
"We spent every day together and I had never been away from him for so long. I think Gus was confused when he saw I was coming home with a baby and didn't know how to react," the American added.
She even briefly considered taking Gus to the vet. But in the end, she found a simpler solution. With a few treats and some good coaxing, the dog was quickly convinced that no one meant him any harm.
Incidentally, the viral hit is a throwback video from 2021, which has the advantage that it is now clear what happened to the male dog and the baby: After a brief false start, they became best friends!
