Women see lifeless dog on highway: As they get closer, they suspect what's going on
Odessa (Ukraine) - The "Love Furry Friends" are back on YouTube with a dramatic video. The animal rights activists from Odessa in Ukraine report on a particularly tricky dog rescue.

The women had spotted the poor animal from their vehicle on the central reservation of a highway. At first they thought the dog was dead, but wanted to get a better picture.
When one of the animal rights activists came closer, it was clear that the dog was still alive. But a second look gave the woman an idea of what had really happened. The dog's front legs did not look good and appeared to be broken.
With the help of her colleague Olena, the Ukrainian woman grabbed the animal. The rescuers' biggest worry was that their new protégé would escape and be hit by a car.
But luckily they managed to carry the dog, which turned out to be a female, to their car unharmed. Then it was straight to the vet, who soon provided sad certainty.
No definitive happy ending for Lucy yet

The dog, who was probably only nine or ten months old, had two broken front legs - most likely after being hit by a car. She must have waited days for help until her rescuers turned up.
Lucy, as she was now called by the Love Furry Friends, had to undergo surgery on her legs. A vet was able to perform the operation successfully, but his patient was in for a tough two months.
In order not to endanger her weakened legs, the furry friend had to be isolated from her fellow animals at the Love Furry Friends shelter.
Lucy bravely endured the healing process, even though she was very timid and shy.
Lucy has now made a full recovery. She is now also allowed to play with other dogs at the shelter. She also enjoys Olena's cuddles.
All she needs for a happy ending is a new home. Her courageous rescuers from war-torn Ukraine hope to be able to find her a new home soon.
