Women find abandoned dog in shopping cart: days later there is a happy ending

Phoenix (Arizona/USA) - TikToker "dee_yes_suh" was out and about in the city with a friend when they suddenly discovered a small dog in a shopping cart. It seemed as if the furry friend had been abandoned. But in the end, the whole story came to light.

In a video on TikTok, the four-legged friend can be seen sitting all alone in a shopping cart outside a supermarket in Phoenix. The women found out from Food City employees that the dog had been sitting there in the cold since the store opened and that no one was looking after him.

The friends immediately bought him some food and brought an old jacket from the car.

"We called a local animal shelter and hope that he will find a loving home soon. It breaks my heart to think that someone could do this to such an innocent soul," wrote "dee_yes_suh" on her clip, which reached more than 1.5 million users.

Many users reacted with outrage and berated the store employees and the owner of the animal. "The employees saw the dog and didn't do anything?", one person complained. "How can someone leave a dog with such a cute face?", another was indignant.

Some even asked the women to take the little furry friend home with them. However, this was obviously not an option for the friends and they had to take the four-legged friend, whom they called "Herbert", to the animal shelter.

Just a few days after the sad video, however, there was an encouraging update. The Americans went back to the animal shelter to check on the male dog. There they learned that their video on TikTok helped them find the owner again.

"The dog ran out of the house and the owner couldn't find him. We don't know who might have found him and put him in the car," the TikToker explained in a comment afterwards.

Whoever abandoned Herbert, whose real name is Roy: He is now reunited with his family.
