Woman thinks she has ordered a bow for the door: What comes next makes millions laugh
Oklahoma (USA) - Whitney Ashmore (27) from Oklahoma recently ordered a decorative door loop from Temu for five US dollars (4.87 euros). She could hardly believe what came instead - millions of TikTok users, on the other hand, have been laughing heartily ever since.
In the corresponding clip, the young woman first presents the provider's photo. It shows a prestigious front door with the magnificent bow hanging from it.
Ashmore then shows what she received instead. "If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it," explains the 27-year-old as she holds a curtain in the picture, on which the photo she had previously shown is printed.
"It's a curtain," she says indignantly and repeats: "A curtain! With a door on it!" Yes, users can see that too - and have been having a great time since the curious clip was published.
More than 17 million clicks have been accumulated since January 3, plus 1.8 million likes.
But what happened to the unusual product?
Viral TikTok video shows curious mistake
"I got a refund and didn't have to send it back, so now I just find fun uses for it. For example, I hung it up in my roommate's room without telling her," Ashmore explained in an interview with Newsweek this week.
However, she admitted to the US magazine that she had not read the description of the article, but had relied on the photo and the headline.
Temu didn't want to let the viral hit just stand there either. The company also issued a statement to Newsweek.
Among other things, it said: "Temu offers a diverse product selection in over 200 categories to meet a wide variety of customer needs. Sellers are expected to provide clear descriptions for each product (...)."
This really doesn't seem to have been the case with Ashmore's article. It is now no longer available from the online retailer in its previous form.
