Woman bawls her eyes out after a date: Her reason causes discussion

Canada - thanks to equal rights: While many women now get really angry when a man wants to pay the bill on a first date, other ladies no longer understand the world when he doesn't. A particularly extreme example of the second group is Estée (27) from Canada. In a video, the young woman shows herself completely upset on TikTokafter a date because the man had asked for separate bills.

In the now viral hit, the 27-year-old explains her situation. "I had a date and it was good. Then the bill came. He asked for the bill and said in French, 'Two bills.' When someone says, 'I want to take you out', I want to be taken out, which for me means he pays."

In her subtitle, the TikToker reiterates her claim: "I want a gentleman." As opinions differ widely on the subject of the bill on a first date, her video has been received very differently.

While women tend to support her with comments, men tend to nag her. This is because they include those who are tired of constantly paying for dates only to be dropped like a hot potato afterwards - or getting in trouble for not respecting equality.

Of course, there are also plenty of in-betweens - and even guys who sense their chance to ask Estée out. More than 25,000 comments have been posted since December 22.

But what happened to the "self-payer"?

"The date itself was fine, as we had quite a lot in common and were both quite chatty," the Canadian said in an interview with Newsweek this week.

"I want to be with someone who is unquestionably excited about me and expresses that through actions and words. The initial behavior on a first date or the first few dates is very important to me, just as important as the natural chemistry," she explained.

Unfortunately, Estée didn't say a word about what exactly she herself would be prepared to do to show her partner her enthusiasm when talking to the US magazine.

Perhaps her date had asked himself this question at some point during the evening. According to Estée, he ignored her last message.

So she will have to keep looking for her gentleman.
