It was her great passion to fly high up in the air and experience the world from a bird's eye view - but for Paulina Biskup, the paragliding flight over Colombia ended tragically.

As El Tiempo reports, the 38-year-old suddenly lost control of her paraglider in mid-air after apparently slipping out of her harness.

Shocking footage from eyewitnesses shows the dramatic minutes she spent swinging wildly through the sky before plummeting unchecked.

The impact was so strong that Paulina succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

Apparently she had not fastened her seatbelt properly

According to initial investigations, she had not worn her seatbelt properly, which may have been the reason for the fatal fall - a mistake that cost her dearly.

Her closest companions, including her boyfriend and a group of friends who were on vacation with her in Colombia, had to watch the accident helplessly.

The police have now launched an investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the disaster.

An unimaginable loss for her family and friends - and a cautionary tale of the dangers of adventure sports.
