Terror in Kashmir: Shots fired at the border - conflict threatens to escalate

Pakistan/India - After terrorists murdered 26 people in Kashmir , there is growing concern that the conflict could spread. The group "The Resistance Front" (TRF) has claimed responsibility. Shots have been reported from the Pakistan-India border.

Tensions between India and Pakistan are rising.

Indian media report that there was an exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani soldiers during the night.

"There were incidents of Pakistan firing small arms at some places along the Line of Control last night. The firing was effectively retaliated," an Indian Army spokesperson told NDTV. Apparently no one was injured.

Earlier, India terminated an important agreement with its neighbor Pakistan that regulates water consumption on the Indus River. In addition, all Pakistani citizens must leave India by the end of the month.

India accuses Pakistan of involvement in Pahalgan attack

India has accused Pakistan of being involved in Tuesday's attack near the town of Pahalgam in which 25 Indians and one Nepalese national died, most of them tourists.

Five terrorists opened fire at a viewpoint in the picturesque Baisaran Valley, forcing their victims to quote verses from the Quran and killing those who could not.
