Team members took her to court - transgender volleyball player can still play!
San José (California) -A transgender woman plays on the women's volleyball team atSan José State University . Some opponents and team members did not think this was fair and took her to court. Now the verdict has been reached: Blaire Fleming is allowed to continue playing in the women's team!
According to reports in the New York Times, Judge S. Kato Crews ruled that Blaire can continue to compete on the women's team at San José State University, even though she was actually born a man.
This was also the reason why a lawsuit had previously been filed in the state of Colorado. The aim of this was to exclude Blaire from the current competition, as her shots were much harder than those of her female teammates and therefore posed too great a risk of injury for everyone else.
This complaint was also joined by the previously suspended assistant coach of her own university team. The team captain also campaigned for Blaire to be removed from the squad for the final round game in Las Vegas, which is taking place this week.
Blaire Fleming could be back on the pitch on Friday
During the trial, the judges referred to the 2020 Supreme Court ruling, which prohibits gender discrimination in the workplace. This also includes discrimination against a person on the basis of their sexual identity.
On Friday, the team from San José State University will face either the team from Utah or the team from Boise. Neither wanted to play San José this season because of Blaire Fleming.
