Painted with pencil, infested with mites, naked: puppy Naya's fate touches the heart
California (USA) - You can only feel sorry for puppy Naya. The four-legged friend was found in a completely miserable condition in a homeless camp in Stockton (California). A lot of love and attention saved her life.
Animal rescuers from the "Hungry Tailz" organization set out every Friday to help in the camp in question. They feed the dogs of homeless people and provide them with medication.
Last December, the animal friends came across little Naya: "She was picked up by a homeless woman, brought to safety and handed over to us," Hungry Tailz told Newsweek.
The puppy was in a miserable condition and must have had a cruel first few days of life. Wearing only a few scraps of fur on her body and painted with a black marker, Naya was taken into care.
A vet later discovered that the dog was covered in mites and her immune system was severely weakened.
Puppy Naya can now play and run around again
Nobody wanted to give up on the dog. So Naya was given a special flea and tick medication to kill the mites and give the four-legged friend a more comfortable life.
After just a few days, it turned out that the puppy had been given exactly the right medication. Naya's condition improved steadily, paving the way for a new life as a dog.
She is now living with a foster family. Hungry Tailz published pictures showing the dog wrapped up in a thick sweater, romping around in his current home.
Once Naya is finally out of the woods, she will be put up for adoption. The animal rescuers hope that the puppy will find a loving family. "Naya loves other pets, children and adults. She will make a great companion," the US organization said.
