Love scammer fools single moms into believing they're in love and then rips them off!
Bern - Several Swiss women have fallen victim to a shameless love scam.
A total of seven women told the Swiss magazine Blick about a man who first skillfully wrapped them around his finger and then cheated them out of a lot of money.
The majority of those affected had met the scammer, a charming man in his 30s, via a dating app. In all the cases described, the guy had already settled in with his new victim shortly after the first date.
His brazen scam: He allegedly told the women that he was in a difficult relationship with his ex, who also forbade him to see their child. In addition, there were financial problems due to maintenance costs.
"On the evening of our first date, he managed to invite himself to my mother's apartment, where I was staying. He then stayed with us for about ten days. He cooked, looked after me and was on his best behavior. I thought I had hit the jackpot," recalled one of the women.
A fallacy, as it later turned out.
Brazen scam: "He was a good speaker"
His mother and daughter were so touched by his story that they were determined to give him a second chance in life. They then lent him a total of around 10,000 francs (around 10,700 euros) for rent, maintenance and even a bicycle - after all, he had told them that his accounts were currently blocked due to a change of bank.
Even today, some of the victims still don't know how they fell for it.
"He was a good speaker, he said the right words at the right time," said one victim. A woman who had even been cheated out of 30,000 francs (around 32,000 euros) explained: "He knew exactly what to say to wrap me around his finger by making me believe I had a stable relationship and plans for the future together."
According to the report, the "Tinder swindler" mainly targeted single mothers. In the meantime, legal proceedings have been initiated against him for domestic violence - by the ex-wife (35), who does indeed exist.
The 35-year-old explained that she had been beaten by her ex before, during and after the pregnancy. She had not received a cent of the maintenance payments that the cheater had the other women pay him.
