Huge detonation shakes port: Hundreds injured, deaths feared
Bandar Abbas (Iran) - A huge explosion was reported from Iran . A huge mushroom cloud rose above the port of Bandar Abbas. There are many casualties.

According to the semi-governmental news agency Tasnim, the explosion rocked the Shahid Rajaei port near the southern city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday afternoon.
Iranian government representatives confirmed the incident. The cause has not yet been clarified, wrote the mullah media IRNA. Apparently a fuel tank exploded.
The blast wave was so powerful that an administration building was completely destroyed and several cars were badly damaged. A fire broke out after the explosion.
Pictures posted on social media show numerous injured people being treated on the street. Meanwhile, a huge column of smoke towers over the plant.
According to initial information, more than 100 people were injured. Local hospitals are preparing for the worst.


The port on the Persian Gulf is an important transshipment point for container ships and is also home to several fuel depots. Port operations have been suspended.
