Grandpa sells his grandchildren's Christmas presents: family is horrified at what he does with the money
Michigan (USA) - Just a few days before Christmas, a father of four discovers that a family member has stolen his children's Christmas presents. What he has done with the presents leaves him horrified.
Shortly before Christmas, Don Lucas Jr. invites his father to his home to spend the upcoming holidays together.
But when the single father discovers that his children's grandfather has stolen their Christmas presents, the Christmas anticipation is gone. Especially when he finds out what he has done with the stolen presents!
According to a press release from the Van Buren Sheriff's Department, Donald Lucas Senior sold his grandchildren's presents and used the money to buy drugs.
According to the father of the family, the gifts were worth the equivalent of around 962 euros and were then exchanged for methamphetamine.
He told Fox 17 how horrified he was by the events: "I cried. What am I supposed to do? I can't believe someone would come and steal the children's presents."
Grandfather is arrested by drug squad
The 62-year-old was later arrested by drug squad officers during a meth investigation. However, the man would not have cooperated with the officers in order to get the children's presents back.
Fortunately, the four children of Don Lucas Jr. don't have to do without presents at Christmas after all. Numerous members of the county collected donations to ensure that the family had a nice Christmas after all.
On a joint shopping trip with police officers, the family was later allowed to choose their Christmas presents from the money raised.
