German man brutally beaten up on Mallorca: He has now been in a vegetative state for three months
Mallorca - Ronald has been in a vegetative state on Mallorca for several months . The German was brutally beaten up at the end of November. The motive of the alleged perpetrators is causing horror.

The 58-year-old was on his way home to his Mallorcan apartment after a Christmas party on November 30th, as reported by Mallorca Magazine.
In a park in the east of Palma, youths apparently lay in wait for him, beat him up and stole his cell phone.
Because his friends couldn't reach him the next day, they drove to Ronald's apartment. As he was not to be found there, they alerted the police.
At this point, the 58-year-old was already in hospital.
He has been in a vegetative state there ever since, occasionally able to move his hand or smile. His parents and his best friend visit him every day for several hours, they tell RTL.
Another friend, himself a neurologist, explains that Ronald can breathe independently and "maintain his sleeping and waking rhythm". All other cognitive functions are not possible.
Mother doesn't give up hope: "We are happy about every move he makes"

His lawyer tells him that two witnesses have come forward. Further investigations eventually reveal that it was not a robbery, as initially assumed.
Instead, two 17-year-olds apparently wanted to impress the girls in their group. Both teenagers were eventually arrested. They face several years in prison.
It is unclear whether the German will ever wake up again. His parents are not giving up. "We're happy about every move he makes," says his mother Gerda.
A donation accounthas been set up for the 58-year-old to cover both his legal and medical costs. "Ronald's recovery will take a long time, and the burden on him and his family is enormous," it says.
