Explosion shakes house: one-year-old child seriously injured

Gelsenkirchen - A violent explosion shook the old town of Gelsenkirchen at around 7.20 p.m. on Monday evening.

As the police reported on Tuesday, the apartment in an apartment building in Wanner Straße was affected.

Several windows shattered in the living rooms, causing injuries to three people.

A one-year-old toddler was seriously injured but is out of danger, according to the police.

A 16-year-old teenager and her 62-year-old grandmother also suffered minor injuries from broken glass.

There was also a lot of broken glass on the road, which had to be closed between Bismarckstraße and Hauptstraße.

Five parked cars were damaged by flying glass splinters.

So far, there are no indications that the accident was caused by a third party. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing.
