Excitement at the recycling center: employees make a highly dangerous discovery

Brno (Czech Republic) - In the Czech city of Brno, something was found in a scrap metal container that definitely did not belong there.

The employees at the recycling center were astonished and some of them were probably still shocked. Because an old artillery shell was suddenly lying in front of them. The incident was first reported by the newspaper Denik.

The unknown person who threw the potentially lethal ammunition into the container apparently had no idea what he or she was holding in their hands.

"Fortunately, the artillery shell did not activate due to improper handling and was found in time by an employee of the garbage yard. A strong impact could trigger an explosion and endanger life and property. The fragments could be thrown up to 250 meters," police spokeswoman Petra Hrůzová told Denik.

The grenade, which was almost 30 centimetres long, was immediately rendered harmless by defusers who rushed to the scene.

Incidents like this happen all the time. Like in the summer of 2024 in China, when a pensioner was blindsided when her practical kitchen mortar turned out to be a hand grenade from the Second World War.
