Almost eight months into her employment with a British real estate management company, Paula Miluska found out that she was pregnant.

Shortly afterwards, the usual symptoms of pregnancy, such as morning sickness, began to bother her. She could no longer manage a trip to the office, as the British magazine"Independent" reported.

The expectant mother was combative and suggested to her boss via text message that she work from home. Initially, this was not a problem for her boss at the time, who checked on her well-being in the meantime. However, as his employee continued to be absent, the mood changed.

Another message arrived on Miluska's cell phone: Her boss wanted to know if she could come into the office for a few days. Her reply: "Oh God, I was just about to write to you that I wanted to take the next week off. I've been sick six times today alone and if it doesn't get better in the next few days, I'll have to go to hospital."

There was then a long period of silence in the chat, as the magazine reported on the basis of the court documents. But the next time her bully boss got in touch, things got all the more heated.

"Hey, I hope you're okay. As you might have guessed, we need to try and find someone for the office as we're behind on work. I hope you don't take this personally," said the cryptic text message, which later turned out to be a resignation.

The last lines were particularly brazen, in which her manager backed up her dismissal with a questionable sentence and an inappropriate emoji.

The raunchy statement "We have a lot of catching up to do outside of work" was followed by a so-called "hugging face" smiley - a yellow face with red cheeks and two hands in front of the face (🤗).

Miluska was initially confused, after all, her work from home had been agreed. Shortly afterwards, she stopped receiving her salary, so she went to court.

The courts have now ruled in her favor. The last text message from her former boss was "objectively clear" that it was a dismissal that was directly related to her pregnancy. She was awarded the equivalent of around 100,000 euros in compensation for pregnancy discrimination.
