Couple buys old house: what they find under the laminate flooring causes a stir

Salt Lake City (Utah/USA) - This discovery under the laminate flooring is not only causing excitement for Liana Abigayle Huber (26) and her husband, but also for an audience of millions on TikTok. Last year, the couple from Salt Lake City in Utah bought an old house dating back to 1922. However, what has since emerged from under the gray laminate flooring is dividing users.

A few months ago, following a tip from the previous owner, the young couple dared to remove the laminate on camera. A 100-year-old oak floor was revealed underneath.

The corresponding video was published on TikTok on November 19. However, it only shows a couple of young men revealing the rather battered floor that lies beneath the very well-kept laminate.

4.6 million clicks and more than 200,000 likes have been accumulated since then. In the comments column, however, it is clear that users have come to very different conclusions.

While some praise the campaign, others wonder why the much better-maintained laminate flooring had to go in the first place. Thousands of users have now left comments.

Now Liana Abigayle Huber has commented on the story to Newsweek.

Viral hit followed by follow-up video with final result

"I really value having a home that feels inviting and cozy, especially with a new baby," said the 26-year-old, who recently became a mother.

"I want my friends and family to feel at home here, and I expect the warm original hardwood floors will make the holidays extra special," she added to US Magazine.

However, turning the old floors back into something beautiful took months of restoration work, which the couple carried out themselves with friends.

What is missing from the viral hit, however, is the end result. But Huber has since released several follow-up clips in which it can be seen.

In them, the old floor really does look like new. From the couple's point of view, the hard work was definitely worth it.
