Burglary drama at professional footballer's home: armed men kidnap wife and child while he hides
Guayaquil (Ecuador) - Kidnapping horror in the southwest of Ecuador! Armed criminals broke into the home of professional footballer Jackson Rodríguez (26) and kidnapped his wife and child.
According to the authorities, the terrifying crime took place yesterday, Wednesday, in the metropolis of Guayaquil.
At around three o'clock (local time), burglars forced their way into the 26-year-old left-back's home through the front door, whereupon he hid under the bed from the thieves, according to the police.
The wife of the footballer, who has been under contract with local first division club Sport Emelec since 2018, had asked the gunmen about her husband's whereabouts.
"The criminals knew exactly who they were looking for," a police officer was quoted as saying in the local media.

To protect her partner, she explained that he was not at home. However, this resulted in the criminals fleeing with Rodríguez's wife and their five-year-old daughter in a "gray van".
Nothing is known about the motives behind the crime, nor who might be behind it.
A special anti-kidnapping and extortion unit has been set up to investigate.
