After the death of David Lynch: "Twin Peaks" star bids farewell with emotional words

Los Angeles - Cult director David Lynch (†78) made film history. The CEO of the streaming service Netflix, Ted Sarandos (60), has spoken at length about his death. A long-time friend of the artist also said goodbye on Instagram.

As Sarandos wrote on Instagram, Lynch was working on a miniseries for Netflix in the last few years before his death.

"It was a David Lynch production, full of secrets and risks, but we wanted to embark on this creative journey with this genius," said the Netflix boss.

However, the coronavirus pandemic and the director's health made it difficult to realize the project. Hardly any details are known about the mysterious series called "Wisteria".

The title refers to a plant that is also known as blue rain. The robust climbing plants produce seeds that look like coffee beans but are poisonous.

"I will always wonder what he had planned for us - his last project, which we are sadly denied," said Sarandos.

According to Deadline, Lynch had also planned an animation project called "Snootworld" for Netflix, which was rejected by the financiers.

In addition to Sarandos, numerous Hollywood actors also remembered the star director, including "Twin Peaks" icon Kyle MacLachlan (65).

"42 years ago, for reasons beyond me, David Lynch brought me out of obscurity to play the lead in his first and last big budget movie," Kyle MacLachlan wrote on Instagram, referring to his role as Paul Atreides in "Dune" ("The Desert Planet", 1984).

"He clearly saw something in me that even I didn't recognize. I owe my entire career, indeed my entire life, to his vision," says MacLachlan.

He, in turn, saw in Lynch an "enigmatic and intuitive man" in whom "a creative ocean" bubbled. "He was connected to something the rest of us wished we could achieve."

During the work on "Blue Velvet" and "Twin Peaks", the friendship between the two stars ultimately deepened even further.
