Fuss about new trend drink: because there are too few cows, it contains milk from this animal
Indramayu (Indonesia) - Because there are hardly any cows in Indonesia, but plenty of fish, a resourceful company has launched a new product on the market: fish milk.
The inventors of fish milk are convinced that the innovative drink is not only tasty and healthy, but also completely harmless.
The company "Berikan Protein" is now planning to produce the innovative drink throughout Indonesia, reportedthe "New York Post". The government is also considering including fish milk in school meals.
No wonder: cow pastures are scarce in the Southeast Asian island state with its 275 million inhabitants. But fish are available in abundance and are considered a rich source of protein.
And so, for some time now, perch and other by-catch have been deboned, chopped and processed into a fine, white powder in a factory near Indramayu.
Fish milk fans then only have to dissolve the powder in water. The wholesome protein drink is ready. The fish dairy also offers strawberry milk and chocolate fish milk.
Company believes in fish milk success
"Tastes like normal milk, at least to me," believes Mafatihul Khoiri, manager at Berikan Protein.
He already processes 90 tons of fish that nobody else wants every month in his factory.
For fans of the unconventional protein drink, the advantages are obvious: fish milk is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, free from allergens and easy to digest.
However, it remains to be seen whether consumers will also like the drink.
