Diving trip ends fatally for a tourist: teacher arrested

Vouliagmeni - A young vacationer died while diving in Greece, despite having two experienced divers at his side. It is still unclear how the tragic accident happened.

The 25-year-old tourist died last Saturday afternoon while diving near Vouliagmeni, south of Athens, according to theMirror.

He is said to have lost consciousness during the dive. Rescue workers took the young Briton to hospital, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead.

As it is not clear how his tragic death came about, the 46-year-old diving instructor and his 37-year-old assistant were subsequently arrested.

It will be investigated whether the case is a case of involuntary manslaughter. An autopsy should soon provide clarity.

Diving equipment was also confiscated during an initial investigation by the port authority. The safety of the dives is now to be reviewed.
