Rape in hotel: MMA fighter McGregor found guilty
Dublin - Irish mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor (36) must pay almost 250,000 euros in damages to a woman who accused him of rape.
This was decided by the jury in a civil case at the High Court in Dublin. The 36-year-old must pay the woman a total of 248,603 euros.
The plaintiff had accused McGregor of having "brutally raped and abused" her in a hotel room in the Irish capital in December 2018.
She had sustained injuries and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
McGregor testified that the sex had been consensual. He announced on Platform X that he intended to appeal against the verdict.
McGregor, who isconsidered one of the biggest stars on the scene,last fought more than three years ago. A comeback in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was delayed again this year.
