Helpless woman raped? Police arrest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit
Oslo (Norway) - Marius Borg Høiby (27), eldest son of the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit (51), has to face new serious charges after being arrested again.
He was arrested in a car shortly before midnight and is now in custody in the Grønland district of Oslo, the police announced this morning. It has not yet been decided whether he will remain in custody for longer.
At the same time, the police expanded the charges against the 27-year-old. He is now also accused of violating a section that deals with sexual intercourse with a person who is unconscious or unable to resist the act for other reasons.
"What the police can say about the rape is that it is sexual intercourse without sexual intercourse," the investigators said in the statement.
The victim - a young woman who has not yet appeared in the investigation - is said to have been unable to resist the act. There was initially no reaction from Høiby or the royal family to the new allegations.
Long list of accusations against the crown princess's son
Høiby is Mette-Marit's eldest son. He comes from a previous relationship of the Princess. Together with heir to the throne Crown Prince Haakon (51), she has two other children, hereditary princess Ingrid Alexandra (20) and Prince Sverre Magnus (18). Although Høiby is a member of the royal family, she is not an official member of the Norwegian royal family.
On August 4, Høiby was arrested in Oslo on charges of assault and damage to property and released the following day. In a written statement at the time, he admitted that he had become violent towards his girlfriend under the influence of alcohol and cocaine and had destroyed things in her apartment.
Since then, the allegations against him have been extended to include abuse in close relationships with two other women. The 27-year-old, who was arrested again on September 13 as part of the investigation, denies this.
The police continue to investigate these and other allegations, including driving without a valid license.
