Woman runs famous New York marathon drunk: "I have no regrets"
New York City (USA) - Five shots and plenty of beer, plus sweets - what sounds like a boozy party night was recently the course catering for a young long-distance runner. Justine Huang (26) took part in the famous New York City Marathon - and arrived at the finish line drunk!
On November 3, more than 55,000 running enthusiasts started the 53rd edition of the prestigious marathon - including Justine Huang. But to get through the 42 kilometers, she didn't just rely on water and squash.
The 26-year-old shared her crazy plan with the internet on her TikTok channel. Several clips show the sporty American repeatedly reaching for shots and beer during her run - and still running on calmly.
Two videos went viral, her most successful clip has now collected almost twelve million views and more than two million likes!
Huang now revealed to the portal npr that she had drunk "four or five shots" and "four or five half-cups of beer". There was also a Prosecco in between.
The decision to run drunk was made when she surprisingly got a starting place not only for the NYC Marathon, but also for the Chicago Marathon. Both are among the most important running events in the world, and only a small number of applicants are actually allowed to compete in the end.
Huang even ran in both!

5 hours and 36 minutes: Food and drink slow the runner down
After achieving her athletic goals in Chicago, she was able to take it easy in the Big Apple just three weeks later. "I wanted to eat everything I saw and then drink everything the spectators brought. That was my plan for this race," she said, "but I didn't expect there to be so much food and [alcoholic] drinks."
Partly due to these circumstances, she ended up taking 5 hours and 36 minutes to complete her marathon. To make sure she didn't drop dead after an hour, the trained runner always drank enough water in between.
"I met so many cool people during the run," Huang enthused about her experience. "I ran the whole way with my best friend and it was her first marathon," she added.
"Being with her and seeing our friends who spent the whole day running around the city and finding places to cheer us on just made me so happy. I have no regrets at all."
