Drama on Malle: Airplane tug crushes employee's legs - amputation on site!

Palma de Mallorca (Spain) - An airport employee was seriously injured at work. He was actually about to retire, but then a tragic fate befell him.

The accident occurred yesterday, Wednesday, at 16:12 on the runway at Palma de Mallorca airport, as reported by the Spanish newspaper"Crónica Balear".

A tugboat, which is responsible for pushing the planes back from the gate, hit the 60-year-old and crushed both his legs.

The airport's medical team came to his aid immediately, and two ambulances arrived shortly afterwards.

However, one of his legs could not be saved and had to be amputated on the spot. The victim also suffered serious injuries to his other leg.

Once the casualty had been stabilized, he was taken to the nearby Son Espases hospital as quickly as possible.

The police controlled the traffic to clear the way for the ambulance as much as possible. Further details of the incident are still being investigated.
