Woman can't believe her luck when she takes a closer look at a jacket in a second-hand store
Haileybury (Canada) - She was so stunned that she doubted its authenticity several times: Robin Gardiner (32), who lives in Haileybury, Canada, discovered an old Hudson's Bay jacket in a second-hand store at the beginning of November. The store only asked 35 Canadian dollars (around 23 euros) for the item, although it must have been worth much more.
In a TikTok video (see below), Gardiner shared her joy about the jacket on November 5. In the clip, the Canadian must be grinning broadly because she can hardly believe her luck. Finally, she holds the company's label up to the camera.
The curious video has since become a viral hit with more than 900,000 clicks. The TikTok audience is also impressed by the lucky strike.
"I was so excited. I couldn't believe I had found her. I come from a family that hunts, traps and fishes. So I've always wanted a Hudson's Bay item," Gardiner said in an interview with Newsweek this week.
However, she initially had considerable doubts about the authenticity of the jacket. "I noticed the Hudson's Bay stripes, but I honestly didn't think they were real," the 32-year-old explained.
With the help of Google Lens, she tried to get to the bottom of the truth. This enabled the bargain hunter to get a pretty good idea of the value and age of the find.
Viral TikTok video shows curious find
According to the report, the jacket is a vintage Hudson's Bay wool coat from the 1960s.
Today, it is probably worth ten to twenty times as much as 35 Canadian dollars, i.e. up to 700 Canadian dollars (around 473 euros).
"But I'm not going to sell it," the mother told the US magazine. Instead, she wants to pass the coat on to her daughter one day.
Meanwhile, Gardiner is not only delighted with her lucky find, but also with the viral hit on TikTokthat came with it .
