Driver kills 35 people!
Zhuhai - 35 people have been killed and dozens more injured in a "car attack" in China.
Police in the megacity of Zhuhai in the south of the country announced on Tuesday that a suspect had rammed his car into numerous people who were training at a sports center the previous evening.
The 62-year-old apparently acted out of "dissatisfaction with the division of assets after his divorce".
The 62-year-old driver with the surname "Fan" entered the grounds of the sports center with a "small SUV" and rammed into the exercisers. In addition to the 35 fatalities, 43 people were injured.
"The trigger was his dissatisfaction with the division of assets after his divorce," the police said, explaining the possible motive. When security forces confronted the driver in his car, he was reportedly in the process of self-harming with a knife. He was immediately stopped and taken to hospital.

The 62-year-old is in a coma with injuries to his neck and other parts of his body and is "not fit for questioning", the police added. No further details were given about the identity of the driver or the victims.
Although it was unclear, at least officially, whether Japanese nationals were involved, the Japanese embassy issued a warning about the incident, urging its own citizens to be vigilant.
Japanese in China should "respect local customs, observe their surroundings and be mindful of what they do and say when interacting with Chinese people", it said. They should also "refrain from walking the streets alone at night" and avoid "speaking loudly in Japanese" during the day.
According to the police, the 43 injured were not in mortal danger. Online videos showed residents of Zhuhai queuing up to donate blood. According to the state news agency Xinhua, President Xi Jinping called for "comprehensive efforts" to treat the injured. He called for the perpetrator to be "punished in accordance with the law".
