Brazen liar wants to get rid of alleged "found dog" at animal shelter
Steinbach am Ziehberg - The manager of the Austrian animal paradise Schabenreith is angry. A woman wanted to hand in a "found dog", later it turned out that she had lied outrageously.
The woman called the animal shelter and claimed that she had found a puppy and wanted it to be picked up from her home, as reported by"heute".
When the staff arrived, they saw the woman at the window while her daughter came to the door with the dog.
"When we handed him over, the four-legged friend attacked us and we had problems getting him into the car," recalls Harald Hofner, who runs the facility together with his partner.
The animal shelter then wrote a Facebook post looking for an owner for the surrendered dog.
A short time later, a neighbor of the woman who had allegedly found the pet got in touch and exposed the lie. "She told us that the four-legged friend was known in the neighborhood and that she knew it belonged to her partner. It was clear that she wanted to get rid of him," explains Hofner.
Head of Tierparadies angry: "We feel ripped off"
"We are often taken for fools and exploited. That is fraud. We feel we're being taken for a ride. But often we don't even know that we're being taken for a ride," explains the head of the animal paradise.
In this case, they had already suspected that something was wrong because the four-legged friend had shown trust in the girl who handed him over.
After all, the dog - who was given the name "Elsa" by the staff - has arrived at the facility safely and is now feeling at home.
