Out of jealousy, he robbed Mann of his sight: "Hands off my girlfriend!"

Swansea (Wales) - A particularly jealous man (24) from Wales has been jailed for a long time after a fatal acid attack.

24-year-old Jivan Dean poured corrosive acid on another man in the small town of Llandeilo, according to the local police. He then left his victim with life-threatening injuries and fled the scene.

As reported by"The Times" magazine, the incident took place during a house party - out of jealousy. "Get your hands off my girlfriend", Dean is said to have shouted during his brutal attack.

Fearing that another guy would rob him of his girlfriend, the 24-year-old robbed him of his sight.

"The victim suffered chemical burns the likes of which hospital staff had never seen before and his vision is likely to be impaired for the rest of his life," police said.

The Welshman's escape attempt lasted only a few days. He was arrested by the police back in August. The sentence followed at the end of last week: 19 years in prison.

Dean confessed to his crime in court. It is unclear whether he was right to worry about his relationship. According to "The Times", the victim and the acid attacker's girlfriend had only met once.
