A woman has her photo taken by a hairdresser: What the salon does with the photo leaves her speechless
Amsterdam (Netherlands) - She wanted to try something new: Tess Glimmerveen (29) from Amsterdam tried a different hairstyle at a new hairdresser in her city last month. As she was more than happy with the result, she asked a member of staff to take photos of her for her friend. In return, the salon asked her if she could use the pictures for her own Instagram page. Glimmerveen agreed. But when she saw the photos later, she was speechless.
Even before her visit to the new salon, Glimmerveen had noticed that the women on its Insta page looked much more glamorous than she did.
But when the Dutch woman later saw what the people there had made of the photos she was in, she realized everything. At first, she had difficulty recognizing herself at all.
"The picture kind of looked like me, but I didn't recognize it straight away. I actually had to laugh out loud when I realized it was my picture - but then with face-tuning," the 29-year-old said in an interview with Newsweek this week.
When she commented on the post on Instagram saying that it wasn't her face, the salon reacted immediately.
Glimmerveen sees things with a smile and a tear in his eye
"Hi, I just saw your comment and want to apologize for using a filter on your photo. This was done by the marketing team. The post has been deleted. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused," one of the employees wrote to her.
But the young customer had long since recovered from the initial shock and now found the matter more than funny. So she shared a before-and-after comparison on TikTok in a photo show.
This made her a viral hit in October with 1.3 million clicks. However, Glimmerveen now sees things a little more differently again.
"I feel comfortable in my own skin, but even I felt a bit weird when I saw the filters and adjustments on my photo. I don't look like that in real life, but should I?" she now asks critically.
It's "kind of sad", but she doesn't let it get to her.
