When dad sees how his deaf pit bull handles the baby, he realizes everything
Marion (Massachusetts/USA) - This caring pit bull dog did not have an easy start in life. Milkshake was born deaf and was left to fend for herself as a street dog for a long time. But that was a long time ago. She has found a home with James and his family.

Sweet as sugar: dog owner James Coburn from the USA recently became a father for the first time. Now he has posted a video on Instagram showing the moment Milkshake meets the baby for the first time.
In the video, the happy parents can be seen entering the house. Milkshake is still lounging on the couch, she didn't hear anyone come in because she is deaf. James explains: "We gave our dog the 'family' signal when the baby came home."
Milkshake jumps up, rushes to the window and looks out. She wants to see who has just arrived. But before she is allowed to greet the baby, James gives her a onesie so that she can familiarize herself with the little person's smell.
Then the big moment arrives. Milkshake is allowed to sniff the baby. "She immediately wanted to be near the baby," reports the proud father. The cuddly pit bull patiently lies down next to the baby basket and lets himself be stroked.
In another shot, we see Milkshake nudging the baby tenderly, just like a mother dog does with her puppies. Milkshake is not fazed by the baby at all.
Then James understands: "Milkshake has been a mother before."
Instagram: Milkshake's story just melts hearts
When Milkshake meets her daughter Sage, there is no stopping her

James reports what happened next on his Instagram page. "We decided to DNA test Milkshake," James explains. The family hoped to find Milkshake's dog children this way. But the chances were very slim.
But then a miracle happened: "There was a match," says James happily. Milkshake suddenly had a daughter called Sage. But it gets even better: Sage, who was also rescued from the streets, and her family live just a few hours' drive away.
It was a moment of pure happiness when Milkshake and Sage finally met again in a park. The two fur noses hit it off straight away, they seem so familiar as they happily romp around.
"Once a mom, always a mom," says dog owner James. "We've made friends with Milkshake's daughter's family and the two dogs will definitely see each other again."
