On Monday, he discovered the helpless animal at the edge of a park. As the local police station was in the immediate vicinity, he was immediately able to locate a couple of helpful police officers.

The officers lifted the manhole cover, but the raccoon was still stuck.

Then Rivera came up with an unusual idea: he opened two detergent pods and used them to lubricate the raccoon's head.

The attempt to make it more slippery and thus free it was successful and after around 20 minutes the ordeal was over. The animal rescue took care of the rest.

The police later thanked the helpful passer-by, who helped the animal without hesitation, in a Facebook post.
