New Jersey (USA) - A 30-year-old American woman was shocked when she saw the DNA test results of her dog.

In a viral video on her TikTok channel "alexusbird", Alexus from New Jersey revealed that she was baffled after receiving mail the other day.

In the clip, the young woman holds her pet, a medium-sized black puppy with white spots on its paws and belly, and asks her followers to guess its breed.

"To all the dog lovers out there: would you like to guess what breed my dog is? Because we got his DNA results back and we were shocked," the clip says.

The 30-year-old then continues: "He weighs about 35 pounds [editor's note: about 16 kilograms], he's six months old and he's a little baby. I can guarantee that no one is 100 percent right."

Alexus told Newsweek that her puppy's name is Kona. She had adopted the rescue dog in January after being told at the shelter that he was a Labrador retriever mix.

However, the DNA test revealed otherwise, the dog's owner told her viewers.

The puppy turned out to be 51.6 percent Golden Retriever, 22.8 percent Siberian Husky, 16.1 percent American Bully and 9.5 percent American Pitbull Terrier. Alexus was initially unconvinced by the wild mishmash of results and therefore had the test repeated by another company.

"We found that the results were very similar, apart from a few percentage points. However, the second test showed that additional breeds such as Labrador Retriever, Chow Chow and Alaskan Malamute were included at a low percentage," says Alexus.

The video quickly went viral on social media, garnering over 1.7 million views and more than 81,500 likes. "Border collie mix was my first thought," wrote one user, while another initially guessed "Bernese Mountain Dog and Labrador Retriever".
